Knick Knack Records update - We've successfully installed the shopping cart and are in the process of configuration and testing. So far things are going very well and we've had success in creating transactions and delivering the downloads. We're getting all of the META tags, art work and other details in place and hope to have the store on-line in the next month. We're excited about being able to offer many of the live recordings and studio outtakes as 'Pay What You Want'. We're also negotiating with a couple of great Seattle area bands to be able to include on the Knick Knack Records roster. If you've got a demo or would like to recommend something for us to check out please e-mail music@knickknackrecords.com.

June update - Uncle DooDad recently conducted an interview with the UK Newspaper 'The New Current' in which they describe their musical philosophy and roots.
Link to The New Current article here.First off we'd like to thank Slim's Last Chance, The Tiger Lounge and The Mix, all in the wonderful Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle for hosting the "Uncle DooDad Does Georgetown" series of shows. The live recordings should be posted within a couple of weeks. We are very excited about the new music venues that have been popping up there in the past year and how they are really taking a leading role in supporting live music and artists in Seattle. Secondly, we ran into a slight hiccup on the development side of Knick Knack Records but have gotten back on track and are currently configuring the shopping cart for the label site. All of the red tape with the LLC licenses, local, state and federal operating licences have been taken care of, merchant accounts, credit card processing, gateways, etc. have been put into place so we are getting very close to launching. We appreciate all of the support and encouragement from our friends, family, and fans as we've been going through this process. We also heard the first round of mixes from the new recordings and they are awesome! Brian Olsen has been doing a wonderful job with the mixing and we can't wait to get the new songs out there. Stay tuned!

We're extremely excited to be back to gigging. Catch us as we play 3 in a row in the awesome neighborhood of Georgetown in Seattle.

Spring is finally here! Lots of new recordings posted on the Studio Outtakes Page and the Band Practice Page. Check out the new stuff with drummer Jordan Beede. Jordan has been filling in with us since last summer and lately has stepped up to a more prominent role with the band. We are super excited to be playing with him these days. The recordings from the January/February sessions have been sent off to a studio on Whidbey Island for mixing and mastering and we are currently booking shows for late spring and summer, so we'll be back to the live gigs very soon. We are still pushing ahead with Knick Knack Records and are making great progress on the site. Soon you will be able to purchase Uncle DooDad music including any of the live recordings without having to go through i-Tunes or Amazon and you will be supporting a truly independent band. Drop us a line at music@uncledoodad.com to get on our mailing list and we will send you a free mp3. Let us know if you have a favorite song and we'll send it to you free of charge.

We finally have some new recordings posted on the Studio Outtakes page. In the latest version of 'Shine', Craig inserts a piece of a historic speech by Robert F. Kennedy in which he quotes his favoite poet Escalus as he delivers the news of Martin Luther King Jr.'s death to an audience in Indianapolis. There are 3 new songs posted and more to come in the next few weeks. We've also finally completed the Band Practice page. On this page we have posted audio recordings of songs and jams from our rehearsals. Some of them are great, others aren't so great, but it gives you a peek into how we approach the creative process and you can see how some of the songs have evolved from jams and made thier way into our setlists in the live shows. Currently we have posted material through July, 2008 and are going through the process of reviewing and editing the massive amounts of recordings in chronological order to include the more recent stuff.

Things are moving right along with the site development at Knick Knack Records. We are excited to announce that we have hired a couple of seasoned web developers to help us build the site and a marketing director to pursue licensing and other opportunities for the band. In the mean-time stop by and check out the recent uploads to the Live Recordings Page where we have posted the last of the 2009 shows. Uncle DooDad is also very busy in the studio right now. We recorded drum tracks at Abel Brown studios in Ballard and are finishing the tracking at our studio in Bothell. We should have some outtakes from those sessions posted soon as we get some rough mixes done. The plan is to continue to record through the rest of this month and get back to gigging in April or May.

Uncle DooDad launches thier own record label, Knick Knack Records! Following several failed courtships by indie labels and weighing all of the options before them, the band has assembled a team of marketers, promoters, web developers and investors to launch a record label that will focus purely on promoting, licensing and distributing the music of Uncle DooDad. "The current state of the music business is like the wild west" says bass player, Joe. "Artists have never had this much control and opportunity to shape thier own future as they do now. Nobody in the industry has figured out what the proper business model should be at this point." The band is writing, recording, producing, marketing, promoting, and selling thier own music and so it was a natural conclusion that the band is performing all of the basic functions of a record label. Thus Knick Knack Records was born. Joe had been working for several successful indie labels on the west coast over the years and Craig has been working hard at building a studio that is suitable for the huge volume of material that is being produced. At the same time the band has had a very active live performance schedule in 2009. All of the music on this site is for sale. The first stage of the launch will be for mail order sales of physical cd's. As the web site for Knick Knack Records develops we will have the ability to accept credit card payments for digital downloads. Stay tuned for more information.

For the second time in one year Uncle DooDad was selected by Alex Cosper of Playlist Research and 1995 Billboard Magazine Broadcaster of the year, for his roster of bands whose songs are "more artistic than anything on mainstream radio in 2009 and at the same time sound like a better choice for radio that potentially would help attract more listenership, as determined by successful radio professionals."

October is already off to a busy start. Uncle DooDad would like to thank Seattle Subsonic and writer Tom Blodgett for the shout-out prior to our headlining show at Neumos on October 2nd. We would also like to thank the staff at Neumos and Tre and Rachel with Epidemic Entertainment for putting together a great show and taking care of the bands.

Uncle DooDad received a bit of love from Seattle Post Intelligencer writer Jeremy Tolbert following their April 24th show at the Dubliner in Seattle. Joe had an opportunity to talk with him for a bit before their set and he was able to capture in essence the approach that Uncle DooDad has taken to making music and also how the band came up with it's name.

We?ve done a lot of shows lately and now it's time to get back to work in the studio. Look for some new recordings to show up on either the Studio Outtakes page or the Band Practice page soon. We're recording everything in 24 track again so there will be lots of recordings as we work on our next batch of songs we hope to release this spring. We have a few shows lined up but the gig activity will be slowing down as we focus on the studio work. Follow us on Twitter for updates!
